Alastair Hay

I used to call what I do ‘music providing’ since that really encompasses what I do. I don’t like the acronym ‘DJ’, until someone pointed out that if I’m a music provider, then I’m an ‘MP’. So, we’ll go with DJ, although I don't actually ride the discs... or even use discs very often these days!
How did it all start...
Well, I’ve always been the one with the decent ‘sound-system’ growing up, and I always ended up bringing along the system and the ‘choons’ to the parties. The ones at my parents’ house were legendary. Good job those were the days before twitter, facebook and youtube!
...and now what?
It just evolved from there really. Bigger events, more frequent events and then getting paid to play music at a party. Imagine being paid to do your hobby... Would you do your job at your 40th birthday party? I'd do mine... and did!
I take great joy from encouraging people to have a great time through the music I provide and play at your events.
For your piece of mind, I am also Enhanced Disclosure Barring Service (DBS) vetted and have Emergency First Aid at Work (EFAW) training.

Mark Pollard - the influencer!

This is Mark, although he bears an uncanny resemblance Ross Brawn, there are some major differences the main one being Ross is worth a several million pounds and Mark is worth several million pence.
It must be noted though, that Mark and Ross have never been seen in the same place at the same time.
Mark has a similar path to myself in the ‘music providing’ sphere but he took it to another level by being things like the ‘Resident DJ in O’Neill’s, Beckenham’ a few years back, and pretty much working as a DJ most weekends all year.
Rumour has it, he hosted a massive party in a hangar at Gatwick Airport a while back that made the news but apparently, what goes on tour, stay on tour. I'll leave you to ask him about it.
Mark and I DJed together until about 5 years ago, when he moved up to Hull and I moved down to Portsmouth. Together, he knew what to play and I knew how to play it. He regarded me as the 'nerd' of the outfit, often giving me the name An-Al... pronounced 'anal', since I'd tweak crossovers in speakers, and factor in room acoustics before a 'set'. But it paid off.
